Just two days after the deadly blast in Ludhiana court complex, Punjab police has detained a woman constable in connection with the case.

The lady constable Kamaljeet Kaur is said to be the girlfriend of the main accused ex-cop Gagandeep Singh. Kaur is posted at SP Headquarters of Khanna District Police. According to reports, Gagandeep was living with constable Kaur after a dispute with his wife.

Gagandeep who was sacked in 2019 over drug possession was killed while assembling a bomb in the Ludhiana court complex. Before being sacked, Gagandeep was head constable at Khanna Police where he met Kamaljeet. After spending two years in jail, Gagandeep again came in contact with Kamaljeet.

Punjab DGP Chattopadhyaya has confirmed the arrest of the woman constable and said an investigation is underway. The deceased suspect Gagandeep transitioned from narcotics to bombs in jail, where he made some international terror links.

According to the investigation, jailed gangster Ranjeet Singh alias Cheetah introduced Gangandeep to Babbar Khalsa member Harvinder Singh, aka Rinda Singh. Ranjeet Singh is said to be a close confidant of Rindha Singh who managed to flee to Pakistan years ago and is responsible for numerous violent activities in Punjab.

As per the media reports, Gagandeep remained in contact with jailed Ranjeet Singh after getting bail. The two (Gagandeep and Ranjeet) had communicated before Gagandeep started assembling the bomb at the bathroom of the court complex. The explosive went off during the assembling and killed the primary suspect Gagandeep.

On Saturday morning, the police also arrested Gagandeep's brother and have seized a mobile phone, tablet and cash from his residence. "The investigation is underway and we can't disclose much. However we cannot deny the involvement of pro-Khalistani elements in the blast," said DGP Chattopadhyaya in a press briefing.
