Police complaint filed for illegally releasing a pirated copy of Varun-Sara's film 'Coolie No. 1' in theaters

The Nashik-based Sai Samarth Talkies downloaded the film incorrectly and the pirated copy is planned to be screened in theaters

Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan starrer 'Coolie Number 1' has found itself in controversy just before a day of its release. The president of the BJP Chitrapat Kamgar Aghadi, a film trade union - Vijay Saroj allegedly unveiled a plot to pirate the film Coolie No. 1 at the Sai Samarth talkies at Musalgaon in Nashik.

As per reports, the Nashik-based Sai Samarth Talkies downloaded the film incorrectly and the pirated copy is planned to be screened in theaters. Vijay Saroj, has reportedly written a letter to the senior inspector at the Musalgaon police station asking them to take action.

Vijay in his letter wrote, "This movie has not been screened anywhere and it is clear that the films that Sai Samarth Talkies, Musalgaon is about to show and violate the copyright act of 1957 and show the film illegally. I sincerely request the police to take necessary action."

Coolie No. 1, is a remake of the 1995 hit of the same name starring Govinda and Karisma Kapoor. The film is directed by Varun's father David Dhawan, and is set for premiere on an OTT platform during Christmas.
