Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Thursday backing Maharashtra’s transport minister Anil Parab, who has been accused in an extortion case by suspended Mumbai Police officer Sachin Vaze, claimed that dirty politics was being played out to destabilise the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra.
Raut has termed all the allegation claims as political conspiracy and also said that such attempts will not be successful.
“A new tactic has come to light wherein people who are in jail write letters. This is a political conspiracy. I know Anil Parab, he can never indulge in such work. I can assure you, no Shiv Sainik can take a false oath in Bala Saheb Thackeray's name,” Sanjay Raut stated.
"Never before has the country seen dirty politics being played out in such a manner, like indulging in character assassination using investigation agencies and IT cells of political parties, and letters from accused locked up in jail," the Rajya Sabha member said.
Waze wrote a four-page letter where he claimed that former state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had demanded Rs 2 crore from him to continue his service in the Mumbai police and Anil Parab had directed him to collect money from contractors, businessmen and establishments, but he declined. Ex-Mumbai top cop Param Bir Singh had also claimed similar allegations against Deshmukh.
Sachin Waze was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on March 25 about an explosives-laden SUV found near industrialist Mukesh Ambani's residence and the death of a businessman Mansukh Hiran, who was the owner of the car.
Anil Parab denies Sachin Waze’s allegations
Refusing all the allegations and calling it a conspiracy of the BJP to malign the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, Anil Parab said, “To defame the Chief Minister (Uddhav Thackeray), it was necessary to vilify someone close to the Chief Minister and this is a part of agenda being pursued by the BJP.”
He also added that he was ready for an inquiry by any agency be it the NIA, RAW or anyone and that he will legally do everything.
“For the last two days, BJP workers were saying Anil Parab's name will surface and he'll have to resign. How did they know Sachin Waze will give a letter? It's clear that there's a plan of defaming Maharashtra Ministers,” he said.
Chief Uddhav Thackeray would hang him to death if found guilty, said Parab.
