Lauren Scott, the Porn star true name, was discovered dead at her Los Angeles home on Wednesday, according to the US Sun. While the specific cause of death is unknown, a woman claiming to be the performer's aunt believes that substance abuse played a role.

The woman, Linda Arden, told the local news channel, “Lauren was a product of a highly dysfunctional family involving drugs, alcohol, physical, emotional, verbal and sexual abuse.” “She died almost exactly two years after her mother’s – my baby sister's – death, which was caused by addiction and alcoholism.”

Arden added the following to a Facebook post mourning her niece's death, “If you are suffering from addiction, I beg you to get help!” Scott had battled with an addiction to fentanyl, a strong synthetic opioid, she told in an interview.

Scott was, according to friends, plagued by personal struggles” and had recently voiced frustration about “being targeted by abusive online trolls.”

Last month, after tweeting a topless selfie of herself in front of a mural remembering George Floyd, a black man killed in police custody last year in Minneapolis, Scott was plagued by netizens. Despite the fact that she altered the photo for social media, it sparked uproar, with many people calling the post insensitive.

One user wrote, “This George Floyd post is in really bad taste. If you're trying to be an ally or fight for what's right, this is not the way to do it.”

At the time, the actress pushed, arguing “I’m celebrating BAD cops being checked [for] abusing [their] authority against human beings ,” though it did little to appease her critics.

Scott was remembered affectionately on social media by friends and industry insiders, with many sharing images and joyful memories of the young actress before her death.

Alana Evans, a fellow performer said, “Dakota and I were close, so this hurts. She used to call me Mom. I’m praying for her... if she is gone, she is free from her shackles of pain. Love you Dakota.”
