Prashant Kishor rules out association with opposition says ‘don’t believe 3rd or 4th front could challenge BJP’

The statement by Prashant Kishor has put an end to speculations that his meetings with NCP chief Sharad Pawar are meant to bring together a Third Front-type gathering for the next general elections.

Poll strategist Prashant Kishor, who has met Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar twice within 15 days has shown speculations regarding a third front. However, he has ruled out any association with the opposition to take on BJP in the general election of 2024.

“I don’t believe a Third or Fourth front could emerge as a successful challenge to the current dispensation,” said Prashant Kishor. Also, he believes that the ’ tried and tested’ Third Front model is archaic and not suited to the current political dynamic.

The statement by Prashant Kishor has put an end to speculations that his meetings with NCP chief Sharad Pawar are meant to bring together a Thrid Front-type gathering for the next general elections. Kishor has met the NCP chief on Monday. They also had a three-hour-long meeting on June 11 at Sharad Pawar’s Mumbai residence.

Prashant Kishor has clarified that these one-on-one meetings with the Sharad Pawar is to get to know each other better as they haven't worked closely together in past. According to Kishor, during the meeting two have hardcore political discussions going state by state to explore the possibility of what will work in the fight against BJP and what would not. ‘A possible third Front type model doesn’t, for now, figure in their scheme of things,’ said Kishor.

Prashant Kishor has been big support behind Mamata Banerjee’s historic win against BJP in the West Bengal Assembly elections. He had helped craft Ms. Bnarjee’s campaign and sent a message to all opposition parties that, “they too can stand up to the BJP and give them a tough competition.”

Earlier, Kishor had also said that he wanted to quit. He had also criticized Congress's approach saying ‘Congress must realize that it has a problem and then do something about it.”
