On May 25, Punjab will experience ‘Nautapa,’ a nine-day intense summer heat that will last until June 2. Rain is expected across the state along with severe heat wave conditions.

Weather highlights

The IMD has issued a storm thunder warning for several parts, including Kapurthala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ludhiana, Nawanshahr, and Rupnagar, along with high winds and rain.

Bathinda, which is scorching at 42°C, will be joined by Muktsar, Mansa, and Fazilka in the excessive heat wave alert range. This is likely because the day and nighttime temperatures will remain consistently high.

Although Punjab’s breather temperature is now 1.1°C lower than earlier this month, it is still 1.6°C higher than the long-term average. These temperatures are set to increase rapidly because Nautapa is nearing IMD reports.
