
Jalandhar, January 19- Fulfilling the promise of PunjabGovernment led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to make state slum-free,the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Jalandhar Cantonment Pargat Singhon Tuesday conferred property rights to three beneficiaries under CM Grant ofProprietary Rights to Slum Dwellers (Basera Scheme).
Presiding over an event, MLA Pargat Singh termed theprogram as a landmark step towards urban development by giving proprietaryrights to every slum household occupying state government land in a slum of anycity area on the date of notification of ‘The Punjab Slum Dwellers (ProprietaryRights) Act, 2020’, i.e., April 1, 2020.
He said Punjab is the first state in the country tolaunch such a program that aims to transform the urban slum areas with basiccivic amenities including potable drinking water, street lighting, and roads tothe slum dwellers.
Singh further asked the officials to ensure every slumdwellers get the benefit of the scheme which will make Jalandhar slum-free andeveryone would lead a comfortable life
