Kannada star Puneeth Rajkumar's last rites have been postponed. According to Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, the power star would be cremated on Sunday, October 31 at Sree Kanteerava Stadium.

The Kannada superstar's last rites were to be held today, prompting Bengaluru authorities to implement strict security measures in the city. However, the celebrated Kannada film star Puneeth Rajkumar will now be put to rest with full state honours on Sunday in the presence of family members and close friends.

The final rites could not be done on Saturday because Puneeth Rajkumar's daughter, who lives in the United States has only recently arrived in Delhi and will arrive in Bengaluru by 7 p.m.

"As per our tradition, we don't perform funeral after sunset. His last rites will be performed at Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru tomorrow," said the Karnataka chief minister.

Another reason for the postponement is said that the government wants to give fans rushing to Bengaluru from all around Karnataka enough time to pay their last respects to Puneeth Rajkumar. Thousands of fans are getting emotional at the studios after seeing Puneeth's mortal remains.
