With the Punjab Assembly elections approaching, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced Bhagwant Mann as the party's chief ministerial candidate in a video broadcast on their official Twitter page on January 17, Tuesday, headlined "Punjab's future CM is in the house." The video is a parody of Shah Rukh Khan's song "Mast Kalandar" from the Bollywood film Heyy Baby, which was released in 2007.

The Aam Aadmi Party sought to make the song more humorous by replacing the performers' faces with those of Navjot Singh Sidhu, Punjab Chairman Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and ultimately, Bhagwant Mann, the party's chief ministerial candidate. Many internet users pointed out that comparing a CM's chair to a woman was misogynistic.

In the 0.39-second video, all of the CM candidates dance around Vidya Balan, who is shown as the CM's chair. While Punjab's current Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi's visage has been replaced with that of Akshay Kumar's character in the film, Bhagwant Mann's face has been overlaid on Shah Rukh Khan's in the song. The visage of Navjot Singh Sidhu, the state Congress chairman, has been replaced with that of Riteish Deshmukh, who portrays Akshay Kumar's buddy in the film.

Additionally, the faces of AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi are overlaid on the bodies of Anupam Kher and Boman Irani, respectively. The two had significant parts in the 2007 film Thoovalsparsham (1990), which is an adaptation of the American film Three Men and a Baby and is partially based on the Malayalam film Thoovalsparsham (1990). (1987).

AAP candidate Bhagwant Mann makes a big entrance at the conclusion of the video. He is received cordially by the "people of Punjab" and eventually wins the CM's office (Vidya Balan).

AAP has been chastised for objectifying a lady in its new promotional film for Bhagwant Mann.

Many netizens were outraged by the film, and many lambasted the APP for making such a crude video.

The most humorous aspect of the film is that Vidya Balan eventually returns to Akshay Kumar (as played by Channi) rather than Shah Rukh Khan, who plays Bhagwant Mann. Many Netizens joked that, much as in the film, Shah Rukh Khan only appears in a cameo role, and it is Akshay Kumar (playing Punjab's current Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi) who ultimately triumphs against Vidya Balan (playing the CM's chair), and Channi would keep his authority in the state.

For the Punjab assembly elections, Bhagwant Mann has been nominated as the party's chief ministerial candidate.

Earlier in the day, Arvind Kejriwal declared that Bhagwant Mann will be the state's chief minister candidate in the next assembly elections. AAP Punjab President Bhagwant Mann is a member of parliament from the Sangrur seat.

Kejriwal attributed the party's decision to run Mann for chief minister to an unorthodox referendum in the form of a televote, in which people were asked to vote for their preferred leader as the party's CM candidate.

People were urged to vote for their chosen candidate using their phones and Whatsapp. Arvind Kejriwal informed reporters that Bhagwant Mann received more than 93 percent of the votes cast.
