Giving Punjab Congress chief a strong message, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi refused to accept APS Deol's resignation as state Advocate-General, claims the sources. The development comes amid an ongoing tussle between Navjot Sidhu and Charanjit Channi.

Government advocate Mr Deol tendered his resignation after being continuously attacked by Sidhu. The top party brass wanted Deol's removal for representing two accused cops in a sacrilege and police firing case.

The move is seen as a response to Mr Sidhu's public attacks on the Channi government on Monday.

Sidhu, on November 1, slammed the Chief Minister after he announced a power tariff reduction.

"The reason is said to be Mr Sidhu's speech attacking the state government," claimed sources.

"People are given lollipops in the last two months," said Sidhu on Monday.

"The situation has been extremely volatile over the last five years. Freebies have been distributed in the last two months. The moon and stars have been promised. You ask him (Channi) from where he will procure this. The question in your hearts should be whether we simply want to form a government in Punjab, and that too by telling lies and making 500 promises," he added.
