Punjab Congress Crisis: Navjot Sidhu likely to be announced as PPCC chief by tomorrow
Punjab Congress Crisis that has made even High Commandscratching their heads to resolve the longstanding feud between Navjot Sidhuand Capt Amarinder Singh is most likely to end by tomorrow.
According to the sources, to accommodate cricketer-turned-politician in the state unit Congress High Command has decidedto announce him as Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) Chief.
As of now, no official announcement has been made for thesame, however; Sidhu’s close aides have started sending him congratulatorymessages through social media platforms. Moreover, Sidhu’s camp has asked itssupporters to kick start the preparations for the celebration.
It is to be reiterated here, the decision to name Sidhuas PPCC President has been taken in the high-powered organizational meetingconvened by Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday in New Delhi.
As per the media reports, before making it official, theHigh Command wanted to assess the state unit leaders’ response on the same. Furthermore,inducting Sidhu as the state unit president will not pave the way for PunjabCongress to win elections in the upcoming Assembly Elections 2022 thus, havedecided to name two more leaders for the same position.
Viewing the Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh’s formula tomake each sect gratified, the High Command has decided to announce two morenames-one from the Hindu community and the other from the Dalit community- as thesignificant leaders of the organizational structure.
Among the Hindu leaders, the name of now state Education MinisterVijay Inder Singla and Manish Tewari has been put forward while the names ofAmritsar MLA Raj Kumar Verka and a senior Congress leader Chaudhary SantokhSingh is also being deliberated on.
Pertinently, earlier Capt Amarinder Singh has been indenial to work as Punjab CM if Sidhu gets accommodated as the state unitPresident.
