
Information and Public Relations Department, Chandigarh, Punjab,January 5: Under the direct supervision of Chief Minister Captain AmarinderSingh, the state government has successfully organised year long celebrationson the pious occasion of 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev ji. This year,the state government is going to celebrate the 400th birth anniversary of GuruTeg Bahadur Ji and to spread the message of national integration by organisingspecial programs from April 28 to May 1 on 'Guru Teg Bahadur-Hind Di Chadar'.
The Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Mr.Charanjit Singh Channi addressing a press conference in the presence of ACS Mr.Sanajy Kumar and Director Mrs Kanwalpreet kaur Brar here today said that CM Captain Amarinder Singh has alrreadyreleased the logo for these programs. He also said that the government willalso dedicate development projects in Sri Anandpur Sahib, Baba Bakala andKiratpur Sahib as the part of these celebrations.
Mr. Channi said the Theme park being constructed worth Rs.49 crore at Sri Chamkaur Sahib will be dedicated to people on the occasion ofBaisakhi. An additional amount of Rs. 50 crore is also being spent on thebeautification of Sri Chamkaur Sahib.
In a major announcement the Minister said the stategovernment has also proposed to construct a museum at IKG PTU Kapurthala worthRs. 100 crore to highlight the life and works of Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar.
The Minister said that the state government is also going tospend Rs. 500 crore on the construction, renovation and upgradation of severalmemorials this year. He said that memorial dedicated to Bhai Jaita ji atAnandpur Sahib would be completed within this year worth Rs. 26.85 crore.
'By September this year, the government will also completethe construction work of Shiri Guru Ravidas memorial worth Rs. 103 crore anddevelopment projects of Rs. 32.61 crore will also be done at Bhagwan Valmiki jiTirath Amritsar' added Channi.
The Minister also announced that the state government isgoing to constitute a special department in one of the state Universities onBhagwad Geeta and Ramayan. In this department, scholars from India and abroadwill be doing research work on these Granths and the department will alsoorganise national and international level seminars and symposiums.
