Chandigarh and Mohali see Disorder Following Abrupt Change in Temperature:
A quick change in the weather on Wednesday night brought much trouble to Chandigarh and Mohali, resulting in fallen trees, flooded roads, red traffic lights that wouldn’t work properly, and traffic jams.
The region was affected by rain, strong winds, and a dust storm, says the India Meteorological Department. 22.6 mm of rain fell during the evening, and hailstorms occurred in several parts of the city.
Breezy winds knocked tree branches down, and a big branch spread across a road in Sector 34, making traffic awful. According to the Municipal Corporation, 30 reports were received about branches breaking and trees uprooted during the storm. Workers are now clearing these blockages.
There was intense waterlogging in many parts of the city due to the rain. The shift in weather was due to higher temperatures happening lately. A report showed that a cyclone developed in Haryana, gathering up moisture from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.
IMD will issue alerts for Punjab over the next few days.
