In a horrific incident, a 16-year-old girl was gang-raped by 8 youths in Nakodar. As per reports the girl had travelled from Sri Muktsar Sahib Malot to Nakodar in the Jalandhar district to pay obeisance at a religious place. DSP Nakodar, Kulwinder SIngh Virk informs that the victim was given medical treatment and the youths have been arrested. One of the accused is reportedly a minor as well.
Giving information, the victim informed that yesterday, she had travelled to Nakodar via bus after informing her mother. Due to it being late, she had decided to stay the night at Nakodar by renting a room near the religious place.
The places employees told her to sit tight and wait for the room. However, while in putting on her shoes, she was approached by a boy, identified as Karan, resident of Sunder Nagar Nakodar, who said that she won’t get a room here but to come with him and he will provide her with a room.
Then the youth along with his friend took the victim to a secluded place where they tried to force themselves onto her. When she protested, they took her to the market and left her near Shankar river where another accomplice, Mukesh Kumar Yadav, beat her and threatened to kill her. The victim said that she tried to scream for help but couldn’t be heard as it was a secluded place. The accused then phoned 3 other youths who took turns raping the victim.
According to victim’s statements, the accused took her to Nurmehal byepass where they forced themselves onto her in an abandoned plot near a school.
According to the victim, Mukesh then called Mohalla Rahmanpura resident, Vikki and Ajay Kumar, resident of Vijay Nagar Colony Nakodar, who came to the spot but got scared after seeing her condition and went back. Then Mukesh Kumar Yadav left her at Vicky Kumar's house at Mohalla Rehmanpura Nakodar, where Vicky Kumar threatened her and forced himself on her before throwing her out of the house at 1:30 in the night.
The victim then told the whole incident to her mother on the phone. Based on the statements of the victim, Women Ins. Arshpreet Kaur and City Police Chief Ins. Sanjeev Kapoor arrested the 8 youths, identified as Karan, Pawan, Mukesh Kumar Yadav all 3 residents of Sunder Nagar Nakodar; Navneet Singh, Chandan and Vikral Raj residents of Azad Nagar, Nakodar; Vicki resident of Mohalla Rahmanpura and Ajay Kumar resident of Vijay Nagar. A case has been registered under the POSCO Act at Nakodar Police Station against the arrested, one of whom is a minor.
