The political crisis continues to brew within the congressparty in Punjab. In the latest development to this political turmoil, a posterwar has emerged after Sidhu shifted the base of his political activity fromAmritsar to Patiala. Patiala is the home turf of CM Captain Amarinder Singh.

Posters of Navjot Singh Sidhu have emerged in Patialawhereas posters of Amarinder Singh have emerged in parts of Amritsar East whichis the constituency of Navjot Singh Sidhu.

Earlier, posters saying ‘Sidhu is missing from Amritsar hadsurfaced. A reward of Rs 50,000 was promised to anyone who finds the MLA.Allegedly, NGO named Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Sewa Society had put up theseposters claiming that Sidhu did not visit constituency even once after winningelections.

Meanwhile, a poster was surfaced in Patiala that claimedthat the entire Punjab is with Navjot Singh Sidhu. The poster mentioned thatSidhu is the ‘voice of farmers and has demanded justice in sacrilege cases’.These posters included pictures of all congress top leaders including SoniaGandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Manmohan Singh. Interestingly, CM AmarinderSingh’s picture was missing.

Last week, Punjab CM Amarinder Singh had met the three-memberedpanel in Delhi. He also held a virtual meeting with Rahul Gandhi and PriyankaGandhi Vadra. However, he has not provided any details about the meeting andsaid that the party is gearing up for assembly elections of 2021.

Meanwhile, Sidhu earlier had met with the same panel andsaid he has come to represent the voice of people from the grassroots inPunjab.

“My stance has been, is, and will remain same that thedemocratic power which goes to the government and financial power which goes tothe government in form of taxes should go back to the people. Truth can besuppressed but not defeated,” said Sidhu.

The war between the two leaders begins in 2019 after Sidhu’swife Navjot Kaur Sidhu was denied a ticket for the Lok Sabha elections byCaptain Amarinder Singh. Since then, the couple has been seen publicallyattacking CM Amarinder Singh.

Later the difference was sorted out in an informal lunch,but the tussle begins again after Sidhu lashed out at CM for not acting againstkey Shiromani Akali Dal leaders in the 2015 firing case. This came after Punjaband Haryana HC quashed the SIT probe in the same case.
