The political crisis continues to brew within the congress party in Punjab. In the latest development to this political turmoil, a poster war has emerged after Sidhu shifted the base of his political activity from Amritsar to Patiala. Patiala is the home turf of CM Captain Amarinder Singh.

Posters of Navjot Singh Sidhu have emerged in Patiala whereas posters of Amarinder Singh have emerged in parts of Amritsar East which is the constituency of Navjot Singh Sidhu.

Earlier, posters saying ‘Sidhu is missing from Amritsar had surfaced. A reward of Rs 50,000 was promised to anyone who finds the MLA. Allegedly, NGO named Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Sewa Society had put up these posters claiming that Sidhu did not visit constituency even once after winning elections.

Meanwhile, a poster was surfaced in Patiala that claimed that the entire Punjab is with Navjot Singh Sidhu. The poster mentioned that Sidhu is the ‘voice of farmers and has demanded justice in sacrilege cases’. These posters included pictures of all congress top leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Manmohan Singh. Interestingly, CM Amarinder Singh’s picture was missing.

Sidhu VS Captian

Last week, Punjab CM Amarinder Singh had met the three-membered panel in Delhi. He also held a virtual meeting with Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. However, he has not provided any details about the meeting and said that the party is gearing up for assembly elections of 2021.

Meanwhile, Sidhu earlier had met with the same panel and said he has come to represent the voice of people from the grassroots in Punjab.

“My stance has been, is, and will remain same that the democratic power which goes to the government and financial power which goes to the government in form of taxes should go back to the people. Truth can be suppressed but not defeated,” said Sidhu.

The war between the two leaders begins in 2019 after Sidhu’s wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu was denied a ticket for the Lok Sabha elections by Captain Amarinder Singh. Since then, the couple has been seen publically attacking CM Amarinder Singh.

Later the difference was sorted out in an informal lunch, but the tussle begins again after Sidhu lashed out at CM for not acting against key Shiromani Akali Dal leaders in the 2015 firing case. This came after Punjab and Haryana HC quashed the SIT probe in the same case.
