Punjab state women commission chairperson and CP Ludhiana inaugurate mega camp related to crime against women & children

Commissionerate police call 800 applicants, reunite 171 couples, facilitate mutual divorce of 81 applicants

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Punjab State Women Commission Chairperson Manisha Gulati accompanied by Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal on Monday inaugurated a mega camp-related to the crime against women and children, at Police Lines.

Talking with the applicants during the camp, Punjab State Women Commission Chairperson Manisha Gulati said that the Punjab Government and police are committed to safeguarding the women and children from the scourge of the crime against them. She said that we are duty-bound to ensure proper protection from crime and any kind of exploitation.

She exhorted the people to play their role responsibly to wipe the menace out of society.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police informed that in this mega camp, the Commissionerate police have called up 800 applicants of the district to settle their complaints under special message drive and four zones under the supervision of ADCP rank officer were formed.

He said that a total of 171 couples were reunited during the camp and Punjab State Women Commission Chairperson Manisha Gulati also gave a shagun of Rs 1000 to one of the couples.

Agrawal also told that the commissioner police also facilitated mutual divorce of 81 couples despite the police officials repeatedly counselled them for the settlement.

He added that as many as 32 cases were also registered during camp after police officials found some complaints of the dowry, harassment genuine.

Prominent among present occasion included Joint Commissioner of Police J Elanchezhian, Deepak Pareek, DCP Somya Mishra, DCP Ashwani Kapur, ADCP Ashwani Gotyal, ADCP Pragya Jain, ADCP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti, ADCP Rupinder Kaur Saran and others.
