Punjab Vigilance Bureau registers bribery case against five police officials

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau, today nabbed sub-Inspector (SI), Head Constable (HC) and Punjab Home Guard (PHG) red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 13,000 and also registered a corruption case against their two accomplices a sub-inspector and a head constable.

Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said SI Karnveer Singh, Head constable Makhan Singh, and PHG Virsa Singh, posted at city police station Samana in Patiala district, was nabbed red-handed on the complaint Vinod Kumar of Patran, Patiala. The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said accused were demanding Rs 25,000 to help him in a police case.

After verifying his information, the Vigilance team from Patiala laid a trap and three accused SI, HC and PHG were arrested on the spot taking bribe of Rs. 13,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. He informed that a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against two SIs, two HCs, and one PHG at VB police station Patiala and further investigation was under progress.
