Punjab to witness 3 days of rainfall in 7 days amid rising temperature; Check dates

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) of Chandigarh unit has predicted three days of rainfall in the state in the next 7 days in Punjab.

Punjab and other parts of North India have been witnessing a rise in temperature for the past few days. Mercury in multiple districts of Punjab has crossed the 40°C mark in the past few days. Amid the sweltering heat in Punjab and other states, people may have been wondering when the rain will return to the state. Now, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) of Chandigarh unit has predicted three days of rainfall in the state in the next 7 days. IMD Chandigarh on Friday issued a prediction in which it not only mentioned districts that will receive rainfall but also predicted the data when there will be thunderstorms. Below is all you need to know- 

Punjab Rainfall Prediction in May 2025

Multiple districts of Punjab will witness thunderstorms on May 16, 2025. The districts that are predicted to witness thunderstorms are Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Ludhiana, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Patiala. 

On May 19, 2025- Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Ludhiana, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Patiala. 

On May 20, 2025- Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, and Rupnagar. 

Notably, along with thunderstorms and lightning, gusty wind up to 40-50 kmph is also expected to blow in the aforementioned districts. 

Punjab Summers

IMD in its daily briefing also revealed the maximum temperature that the districts and cities of Punjab recorded on May 15, 2025. Bathinda was the hottest with 43.5°C. Amritsar- 41.2°C, Ludhiana- 41.8°C, Patiala- 41.4°C, Gurdaspur- 41°C, Fazilka-43.1°C, etc.
