Rahul Gandhi takes a dig at government, says New India is ‘China-Nirbhar’

Statue of Equality unveiled by PM on Februry 5 was Made in China and cost about Rs 135 Crores.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 5 unveiled a 216-feet tall statue of equality commemorating the 11th-century Saint Ramanujacharya.

At an elaborate ceremony held at Tridandi Chinna Jeer Swamy's ashram at Muchintal on the outskirts of Hyderabad, he dedicated to the world the giant statue which commemorates Ramanujacharya's teachings promoting equality in all aspects of living including faith, caste and creed.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi takes a jibe at the government saying that New India is China Nirbhar. He did a tweet related to the Statue of Equality, calling it Made in China product.


Let us tell you the truth behind this:

State of Equality was made by China's Aerosun Corporation. Reports said the statue was cast in China while it was assembled in India.

Replying to Rahul Gandhi’s tweet, Union minister G Kishan Reddy cleared the air. He clarified by giving details about the statue.



The statue is made of 'panchaloha', a combination of five metals: gold, silver, copper, brass, and zinc and is among one of the tallest metallic statues in sitting position, in the world.

The statue is mounted on a 54-feet high base building, named 'Bhadra Vedi', which has floors devoted to a Vedic digital library and research centre, ancient Indian texts, a theatre, an educational gallery detailing many works of Ramanujacharya.
