NSUI and IYC hold free vaccine camp to mark Rahul Gandhi's birthday today

Even as Rahul Gandhi has said that he will not celebrate, NSUI and IYC have planned to organize a free Covid19 vaccine camp at its office.

On Saturday, Delhi Congress party workers would celebrate Rahul Gandhi’s birthday as “Sewa Diwas”. On this day, party workers would distribute free essential items like face masks, medicine kits cooked meals, and water to the residents of Delhi, the organization announced on Friday. 

It further said that the Delhi workers would distribute these items to people lining up to receive ‘free ration’ in the 272 wards of the municipal corporation.

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Chaudhary Anil Kumar would lead the Delhi Congress workers on Saturday. 

Mr Kumar in a statement said, “Delhi Congress workers would do noble works on the birthday of Rahul Ji tomorrow, without any ostentatious celebration, as the Congress party’s motto has always been to sincerely serve the people more when they are facing a challenging situation, like now.”

 “The aim is to reach out to people, who have been ravaged by the Covid-19 pandemic, with the help and support,” Mr Kumar added.

It is also expected that the party workers would meet the families of those who have lost their lives due to covid19 pandemic, and would extend a hand of help and support.

There is something more on his birthday, National Student Union of India (NSUI) and Indian Youth Congress (IYC) have planned to organize free Covid vaccination camps at their offices for the people.

NSUI National President Neeraj Kundan told the media that the organization would hold a free vaccination camp on the birthday of Rahul Gandhi on June 19, 2021. He further said that “this vaccination camp is organized because our leader Rahul Ji believes that we should get vaccinated so that virus cannot chase us.”

Kundan said, “Rahul Ji has said that vaccination is the best possible way to safeguard people amidst pandemic.”

NSUI National Secretary Lokesh Chugh announced that the vaccination drive would commence from Saturday morning. He further said that the NSUI workers would also help the poor people to get vaccinated free of cost. 

Similar vaccination camps would be organized by IYC across the country for the senior citizens, daily workers and frontline workers, who to date are not vaccinated. 

IYC media spokesperson Rahul Rao told, “On the birthday of Rahul Gandhiji we have planned to distribute ration kits, sanitizers, face masks, water among the needy people.” 

He further said the IYC volunteers would help the people who are not registered on Cowin to get registered and IYC would also distribute free medicines and medical aid to poor people of the country.

On the 51st birthday of Rahul Gandhi, many politicians took social media to pour wishes on him. 

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot tweeted, “Warmest birthday greetings to Rahul Gandhi Ji. May he be blessed with a long and healthy life full of happiness. Rahul Ji is genuinely concerned about the welfare of the poor and downtrodden. I wish he succeeds in his endeavors.”

Jharkhand CM also congratulated Rahul Gandhi and tweeted, “Warm wishes to former Congress President and senior leader Rahul Gandhi Ji on his birthday. Wishing him a healthy & prosperous year ahead.”

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin also wished his ‘beloved brother’ through the micro-blogging website. He tweeted, “Wishing my beloved brother Rahul Gandhi on his birthday and I join others in praising his selfless, untiring work to establish an egalitarian India in every aspect. His commitment to the ethos of the Congress Party has been exemplary.”
