Dhaka: Bangladeshi actress Raima Islam Shimu, who had been missing for a few days, was discovered dead inside a sack at the Hazratpur Bridge in Keraniganj, on the outskirts of the capital Dhaka, in a horrifying occurrence.

A squad from Keraniganj Model Police Station retrieved the corpse about 10:00 a.m. on Monday after being notified by residents.

The corpse has been transported to the Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital (SSMCH) for autopsy, according to a senior police officer, who also claimed that an inquiry is ongoing.

In 1998, the 45-year-old actress made her acting debut in the film 'Bartaman.' She has now appeared in over 25 films.

She was a member of the Bangladesh Film Artistes Association as an associate member.

She also worked in TV dramas and produced in addition to films.

Shimu's husband had already filed a general diary with the Kalabagan police station on Sunday, reporting his wife missing.

The police officer went on to say that it was a murder case and that they were looking into it.

She was also a member of the Bangladesh Film Artistes Association as an associate member.

Meanwhile, members of the Bangladeshi film industry have taken to social media to voice their dismay.
