Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) had complained about this matter.

What did Amrita Warring say on Congress' Panja?

Claiming that Guru Nanak Dev Ji's handprint was the original symbol of the Congress party, Warring argued that the party's choice of the "panja" as its symbol was a homage to the revered Sikh guru. Not only this, she also compared the “panja” to the palm of Mahavir Jain. She was heard saying "Votes should go to Guru Nanak Dev ji's Panja. Congress chose the Panja because all the great Gurus like Mahavir showed Panjas". The opposition accused Amrita of exploiting religious sentiments to incite voters.

Amrita's statement came on the same day when Amarinder Singh Raja Warring was announced as the Congress party candidate for the Ludhiana seat in Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Raja Warring will be at loggerheads with BJP's Ravneet Bittu. Polling in Punjab will take place in the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 on June 1.
