Jalandhar Central MLA Raman Arora is on a 5-day remand of the Vigilance Bureau. Raman Arora was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau on Friday evening in fake Nagar Nigam notices, extortion & digital scams. It was among those rare occasions when a ruling political party took action against its own party MLA. With action on Raman Arora, Punjab CM Bhagwat Singh Mann kept his stance clear that the AAP Government has adopted a zero tolerance policy against corruption and no one is allowed to carry out such crimes.
Raman Arora on Vihilance Bureau's remand
Sources have informed True Scoop that Raman Arora has been kept at the New Baradari Police Station as the vigilance department continues its intensive probe into alleged irregularities and illegal constructions under political protection.
According to sources, investigators woke Raman Arora up early morning around 7:30–8:00 AM and was brought to the Vigilance Office located in the same area. He spent the entire day under questioning before being transferred back to Holding Cell No. 3 of New Baradari Police Station for the night. Sources said the authorities are treating him “like an ordinary criminal,” reflecting the government’s firm stance on the issue.
Last night, Arora was brought to the police station, where 3–4 detainees were already present. They were shifted elsewhere, and Arora was placed alone in the cell, signaling heightened sensitivity around his detention.
A forensic team is analyzing Raman Arora’s phone to trace long-duration calls over the past 10 days. Deleted messages are also being retrieved by the cyber cell of the Punjab Police, and relatives currently underground are being traced. Individuals who had prolonged communication with Arora may also be called by Vigilance for questioning. The vigilance team, reportedly brought in from outside, is operating in a systematic manner, focusing on tightening the case amid concerns of a historically low conviction rate in such matters.
Fake notice served by ATP recovered
Copies of fake notices being pasted on houses by ATP Sukhdev Vashisht of the Municipal Corporation's building branch have been recovered from the MLA's house. However, the Vigilance Bureau officials are yet to confirm whether the fake notice has been recovered from Raman Arora's house or ATP Sukhdev's office.
It has been revealed that these notices were being pasted on houses without the Municipal Corporation's diary number. After the copy of the notice came to light, the matter has gained more importance, because the people on whose houses and shops these notices have been pasted can now also come forward to complain.
