Real-life Martha Scott of Baby Reindeer sues Netflix; seeks $50million for defaming her

The controversy surrounding Netflix series Baby Reindeer again popped up after real-life Martha Scott aka Fiona Harvey sued American streaming giant Netflix for defamation. Netflix's Baby Reindeer is a true story based on the personal experience of actor Richard Gadd who was subjected to years of stalking by her female fan. While the makers and the actor tried hard not to reveal real-life Martha Scott or Baby Reindeer real-life stalker, fans were quick to dig out the real-life Martha Scott- Fiona Harvey. Even Fiona Harve came forward and accused Netflix and the makers for defaming her by peddling lies. 

Why Fiona Harvey is suing Netflix?

Real-life Martha Scott aka Fiona Harvey has filed a suit for defamation and is reportedly seeking over $ 50 million in damages. In her lawsuit, Fiona Harvey alleged that Netflix did not protect her identity. The portrayal of Martha's character, played by Jessica Gunning, led viewers to locate her on social media, she claimed. Furthermore, Fiona Harvey accused Netflix of using a lot of her own speech phrases - that were easy to find on her old social media posts.

Fiona Harvey recently appeared on Piers Morgan's Uncensored show and pointed out four lies that was shown in the Netflix series under the name of Martha Scott. The Sun quoted Fiona pointing out four lies- 

1. Baby Reindeer showcased 'Barman Gadd offering Martha Scott a free cup of tea in the pub as she was upset, however, Fiona revealed that in reality, Gadd did not offer her any free drinks. The law graduate stated that she went to the bar for a meal.
2. Baby Reindeer showcased that Martha Scott sent 41,000 emails, 350 hours of messages, 744 tweets, 48 Facebook Messages, and 106 letters. However, Fiona revealed that she sent a couple of emails, some tweets, and one letter.
3. Baby Reindeer showcased Martha Scott attacking one of her girlfriends out of jealousy, however, Fiona revealed that she did not have any girlfriend and she never attacked any of her friends.
4. Baby Reindeer showcased Martha Scott was sentenced to 9 months of jail, however, Fiona revealed that she has no criminal convictions and has never been sent to any jail.
5. Netflix's Baby Reindeer showcased Martha Scott was obsessed and in love with Richard Gadd. However, Fiona Harvey revealed that it was Richard Gadd who tried to sleep with her but she brushed him off.
