New Delhi: Retired Army Chief Admiral L Ramdas on Monday stated that he will be approaching the poll body ‘Election Commission’ against the UP CM Yogi Adityanath for referring the Army as Modi ji ki sena (Modi's army)" at an election rally which took place last week.
Admiral Ramdas claimed that the armed forces do not belong to any particular individual. He also stated that not only the veterans but those who are in service are also upset with the Uttar Pradesh CM comment. "The armed forces do not belong to any one individual, they serve the country. Till the polls get over, the Chief Election Commissioner is the boss. I am going to approach the Election Commission in this regard", said a disappointed Admiral Ramdas.

Adityanath, at a rally in Ghaziabad on Sunday referred to the Army as "Modi ji ki sena". This had triggered huge criticism and sharp reactions from the opposition. The did not go down well with the military as well.
However, retired Lieutenant General HS Panag stated that the comments were not surprising because as such remarks have been made by politicians over the last five years as an effort to link nationalism with armed forces. "Such comments lead to politicisation of the Army", Lieutenant General Panag said.
