Rinku meets Union Transport Secretary to fix 138 black spots on National Highways in Punjab

Also takes up issue of early completion of the on-going work of Delhi-Katra and Jalandhar-Amritsar Highway

Lok Sabha member Sushil Kumar Rinku today met Union Transport Secretary Anurag Jain on the issue of early completion of the ongoing work of National Highway projects besides decreasing road accidents on the highways in Punjab. 

During the meeting, there was also a discussion about fixing as many as 138 black spots located on the National Highways passing through Punjab because a large number of people have been loosing their lives due to road accidents at these spots.  He said that all these black spots should be rectified as soon as possible, especially in winter season, as more road accidents happen due to fog. 

Apart from this, he also raised the issue of early completion of ongoing construction work of Jalandhar-Katra National Highway and Jalandhar-Amritsar National Highway.  

The MP said that after the completion of this National Highway, the people of Punjab will get high speed road connectivity between Katra and New Delhi. Especially the devotees going to Mata Vaishno Devi will find it very easy to reach the destination via road. 

Sushil Rinku further said that the Union Transport Secretary also praised Priyank Bharti, Secretary, Public Works Department of Punjab Government, who played an important role in reducing the litigation related to land acquisition regarding Delhi Katra National Highway.
