Pension, free education to children who lost parents to COVID: MP CM Shivraj Singh

Many aged people lost their children to coronavirus infection. “We can’t leave such people alone. They are now responsibility of the Madhya Pradesh government,” said the CM.

As Madhya Pradesh fights with a more dangerous second wave of coronavirus, CM Shivraj Singh has come forward to aid the children or families who lost their loved ones during the pandemic. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh today, on May 13 announced that it will provide a pension of Rs 5000 per month to the children whose parents died of Covid19.

“They are the children of the state and it will look after them,” said Chief Minister Shivraj.

Along with monthly financial aid, children will be provided with free education and ration. The CM also assured that government will take care of families who lost their earning member during the pandemic and will provide loans on government guarantee who want to work or start a business.

“We will give Rs 5000 per month pension to children who have lost their parents/guardians in this Covid pandemic. We will also arrange free education for these children and free ration for these families,” said CM Shivraj.

While making the announcement Shivraj Singh said that many aged people have lost their children. They have no one to take care of them as those taking care of them have lost their lives to coronavirus infection. “We can’t leave such people alone. They are now the responsibility of the Madhya Pradesh government,” he added.

On this, Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that Madhya Pradesh is the first state in India to start such a scheme to help children and aged people who lost their families to the deadly virus.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh has reported 8,970 fresh covid cases in the last 24 hours with 84 fatalities. This rise in numbers took MP Covid tally to 7,00,202 and death count to 6,679. On the positive side, a total of 10,324 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours.
