In the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday, there was a loud uproar regarding the gangster Mukhtar Ansari. According to jail minister Harjot Bains, Ansari was detained in Punjab for two years and three months after filing a false FIR. The invoice for which has not been presented. In jail, he shared a cell with his wife. In prison, Ansari received special treatment. I have given orders to register a FIR in this matter.

There was a huge outrage as a result of the jail minister's disclosure. Opposition Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa said that the jail minister has said this in the assembly. The minister will be forced to step down if this cannot be proven.

After Harjot Bains' statement, former Congress jail minister Sukhjinder Randhawa claimed that if Ansari's wife had previously resided in prison and challenged the minister to provide evidence to support his allegation. On this, Minister Harjot Bains said that orders have been given for investigation. The truth would soon be revealed to Punjab.

Following the uproar, Leader of the Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa suggested that if the gangster was to be discussed, Lawrence should come up first. Lawrence is being detained in the Tihar Jail, which is run by the Delhi government. In Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party is in power. AAP MLAs claimed that we had taken him to Punjab regarding this.

Sukhjinder Randhawa, the jail minister of the previous Congress government, was frequently involved in debates involving Mukhtar Ansari. Additionally, he visited Uttar Pradesh. After which UP government minister Siddharth Nath Singh had also alleged that Randhawa had met Ansari's family members. Randhawa, though, refuted it. At that time, Ansari was being held in the Ropar prison.

Mukhtar Ansari was charged with extorting 10 crores from the Mohali builder in Punjab. He was brought to Mohali on a production warrant by the Punjab Police. He was brought before the court on January 24 and lodged in Ropar jail. Following this, he was transferred from Punjab to the Uttar Pradesh Police in April of last year per the Supreme Court's directives.
