Sachin Recovers: Appraises team effort after recovery. Says 'I am a changed man'

Tendulkar talks about his battle with the deadly virus and how he overcame it in an exclusive interview.

On April 2, Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar informed his fans that he had been admitted to the hospital. He had tested positive for novel coronavirus a week prior to March 27.

The former India cricketer announced the news on Twitter, saying that he tested positive after experiencing mild symptoms, while the rest of his family tested negative.

Tendulkar spoke about his battle with the deadly virus and how he overcame it in an exclusive interview. When asked about it, Tendulkar stated that it was a team effort.


"If a bowler bowls a good spell, but the batsman still needs to go alone on the pitch and play,' was how the match with COVID-19 went. But he won't be able to perform without the help of his teammates.' So for my recovery, my family and friends were with me and above all doctors, para-medical staff, and even the nurses, were all there. They took very good care of me".

"I was a little restless when I was first diagnosed, and even before I was diagnosed. Because my body was sending me a different message and I wasn't feeling good, I immediately isolated myself. Later, the reports arrived. That was a good decision I took ".

Tendulkar's illustrious international career with 15,921 runs in 200 Tests, 51 centuries, and 18,426 runs in 463 ODIs, 49 hundred, for a total of 100 centuries in international cricket.

The Master Blaster stated of being hospitalised, "The doctors then told that they would put me on medication for a week to see if my health was improving or deteriorating, and I was still feeling uneasy after that time." Doctors then advised that you go to hospitals and get your scans done to see what the next step in treatment should be.


"They told me to get admitted right away following the scans." I followed all of the doctors' instructions and spent a week in the hospital. After that, I was told to isolate myself until more week when I was discharged and sent home.


"I was alone in isolation for 21 days, and it was a challenging experience. But it wasn't just me who had to deal with all of this; many others have also faced difficulties as a result of COVID-19. My wife, who is also a doctor, was strong support for me. She was able to understand things more rapidly, which was quite beneficial. It was surely a difficult contest to recover from ".

When asked if COVID has changed him, Tendulkar said, "When you yourself experience something, things definitely do change. This experience surely has taught me a lot".
