Mumbai Police inspector Sachin Vaze has links with Aaditya Thackeray’s cousin Varun Sardesai alleged Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Nitesh Rane, adding that Vaze is also involved in IPL extortion.
Rane also claimed that Sachin used to blackmail people involved in betting on IPL for money.
"IPL was started for youth but then betting started. Vaze had called these people who were betting just before the matches. These people would obviously be afraid. He used to tell them if you don't want to get arrested then give us Rs 1.5 crores. Either give it in full or I will raid you," Rane said.

IPS officer Sachin Vaze was arrested last week by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for his alleged involvement in setting an explosive-laden SUV car near businessman Mukesh Ambani’s house Antilla last month. The owner of the car was found dead which has prompted the NIA to take over the case.
