Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal on Friday denounced Punjab CM CaptAmarinder Singh’s move of giving government jobs to sons of two party MLAs.

Mr Badal has allegedthat CM took this decision to safeguard his chair and image ahead of PunjabAssembly Elections 2022.

“All such illegal appointmentswill be quashed once SAD with its latest ally BSP will come into power in theState”, assured Badal.

Criticizing the stategovernment, the SAD President further said it was shocking that while the poorand meritorious were awaiting jobs under the “ghar ghar rozgar yojana” schemeof the Punjab Congress, the latter had changed the scheme to “Kewal Congress GharRozgar”.

However this has notbeen done for the first time in the state as earlier former chief ministerBeant Singh’s grandson was appointed as a DSP on fake compassionate grounds.

“Now, again falsecompassionate grounds have been created to give jobs to the sons of Congresslegislators.”

As a special case, the Cabinet approved to appoint ArjunPratap Singh Bajwa as Inspector (Group B) in Punjab Police. The applicant isthe grandson of ex-Punjab Minister Satnam Singh Bajwa, who laid his life in1987 for the sake of peace and harmony in the State. He has been given anappointment by allowing one-time waiver/relaxation in the relevant ruleswithout making it a precedent.

In another decision, the Cabinet also gave the nod to theappointment of Bhisham Pandey, the grandson of Joginder Pal Pandey who wasgunned down by terrorists in 1987, as Naib Tehsildar (Group-B) in the RevenueDepartment. His appointment is also treated as a special case, by giving one-timerelaxation in the policy of compassionate appointments, 2002. However, it willnot be treated as a precedent.

Noting the sacrifice of their families, the ChiefMinister said children/grandchildren of such people would continue to beconsidered by his government for compensatory appointment on a case to casebasis.
