Aanand L Rai, the director of Atrangi Re, claimed that they had thought of the title but found it had already been registered by Salman Khan when they tried to register it. Mandira Bedi, the host of the event when the film's music album launched, asked about the film's name's inspiration.
"The title had been with us for a long time," Aanand L Rai stated, "but jab hum register karne gaye toh pata chala ki woh Salman (Khan) ke pass hai" (but when we went to get it registered, we found out that it was already registered by Salman Khan). But he was so nice to give us the title.”

When asked about his experience working with Aanand, Akshay Kumar replied that the filmmaker brings back memories of his childhood.

"Aanand ji ko dekh ke mujhe apne bachpan ki yaad aati hai," Akshay remarked. Ekdum bachhe jaise hain. Rote hain, ladte hain, jhagadte hain, kuch smaay ke liye gussa ho jaate hain baat nahi karte hain phir khaate hain peete hain. (Aanand Ji brings back memories of my childhood.) He acts like a child, crying, fighting, and becoming enraged and then he goes and eats food)".
There was a lot of reaction when the film's cast was announced because of the age disparity between the stars. "Atrangi means funny weird," Aanand claimed in response to the criticism. If a director is patient while producing a picture, it is his small expectation that the audience would wait and understand why such a cast was chosen. We have a habit of judging people. I want people to see the movie for two hours and then respond to it."
Cape of Good Films, Colour Yellow Productions, and T-Series are collaborating on Atrangi Re. Sara Ali Khan, Dhanush, and Akshay Kumar star in the film, which will be released on Disney+ Hotstar on December 24.
