Sam Manekshaw and Yahya Khan's connection

Sam Manekshaw and Yahya Khan were friends. Yes! you heard it right. General Manekshaw and Yahya Khan were colleagues at the military operations directorate of the British Empire. However, when Pakistan was made, Yahya Khan shifted to the Islamic nation and became part of the Pakistani Army. Sam Bahadur's movie showcases that Yahya Khan was very fond of Manekshaw's bike. Hence, Yahya Khan in a drunken state asked Manekshaw if he wanted his bike. Since Yahya Khan was about to go to Pakistan he gave his bike but told the Pakistani President to give him Rs 1000 for it. However, Yahya Khan never paid Sam Bahadur for his beloved bike and also took it to Pakistan.

Sam Manekshaw owned a red James motorcycle, which Yahya had an eye on. He offered to buy the motorcycle for Rs. 1000. Manekshaw agreed to sell the motorcycle. Partition happened and Yahya took the motorcycle to Pakistan, never paying the thousand rupees he owned to Sam Manekshaw.

Interestingly, Sam Bahadur's movie showcased the episode. After the Instrument of Surrender was signed on 16 December 1971, Gen. Sam Manekshaw was heard saying, "Yahya never paid me the Rs. 1,000 for my motorbike, but now he has paid with half his country."
