A painful incident took place in Punjab’s Sangrur district where a bus crushed four school children. The incident took place at Mahlan Chowk in Sangrur. A girl died on the spot, whereas three are seriously injured. The injured students are admitted to the government hospital. 

The incident happened when the children left for their homes after the school holiday. The children were standing near the road divider to cross the road. The PRTC bus returning from Kaithal to Sangrur suddenly loses its balance and caught the children standing there. 

The school teacher told that the students had left the school for home. The teachers were also getting ready to go home. Then the call came about the incident in the school.  A Class VIII student died in the incident.

The police reached the spot and have taken the bus into custody, while the driver of the bus fled after the incident. The condition of the bus was really bad. It was not maintained. The number plate of the bus is also not visible. The police has taken the statements of the eyewitnesses and possession of the bus.

Punjab CM Mann also expressed deep anguish and sorrow over the tragic road accident. Mann announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lac to the victim's family and directed the district administration to provide free treatment to the injured. He also wished a speedy recovery to the injured undergoing treatment in the Civil Hospital, Sangrur.
