School dropout builds helicopter, dies after blade hits head

24 year old deceased man had been building his own helicopter since two years and had planned on launching it on 15th august.

Sheikh Ismail Sheikh Ibrahim is a 24 year old mechanic who lived in Fulsavangi Village in Mahagaon. On Tuesday night Ibrahim was testing out his helicopter before its launch on 15th of August. 

The incident took place when the helicopter developed a glitch and one of the blades came flying and hit Ibrahim on his head. Ibrahim was rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately could not survive the severe injury on his head.

Ibrahim’s friends told the sources that he had panned on launching the ‘Munna Helicopter’ on Independence Day. He had always wanted to build his own helicopter which would be affordable and could be used for emergencies. 

He wanted his helicopter to be helpful for the government during rescue operations and natural calamities. 24 year old Ibrahim had dropped out of school after class 7th but had always been famous for his interest in building things and was often referred to as ‘Rancho’. 

Ibrahim had been working as a metal sheet worker who ran a small workshop located in his village. He had been working hard to build his own helicopter since the past three years. 

One of his close friend mentioned that he had created something that would have been very useful for people. He had built the prototype of the helicopter with a Maruti 800’s engine and was estimated to cost around 7-8 lakhs. 

The present helicopter was a prototype of the actual one that he wanted to make. It was a single one-seater helicopter but he wanted to make a six-seater helicopter after the prototype had been passed.

Ibrahim had learnt the art of metal work from his father Sheikh Ibrahim and had developed an interest in building. He was always careful and wore a helmet while operating the ‘Munna helicopter’ but on Tuesday he did not wear one and suffered from serious head injury.
