On Wednesday, SGPC staff members aggressively mistreated a devotee near the Akal Takht at the Golden Temple. An elderly guy above the age of 70 was initially pushed to the ground by the servants before being pulled. Another devotee recorded the incident on his phone, and the video went viral on social media. The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) thereafter took action against the servants.

The SGPC member clarified the situation and said that a devotee had sent the video. The action was taken against the employees after receiving the video. The servicemen have also been asked to provide a written explanation. The employees told that the person wanted to cross the railing and come forward. When he was refused, he forcibly crossed the railing and sat down on the stairs. When he abruptly stood up after that, he was pushed out of the railing by his side.

The SGPC said that based on what is seen in the video, the SGPC personnel don't look right. It can't be ignored. As a result, the process to suspend them has begun. Additionally, the remaining staff members have been informed that such treatment of any devotee would not be tolerated on the premises of the Golden Temple.
