Lil Nas X is an unapologetic American rapper and hip-hop musician, as evidenced by his music video Montero (Call Me By Your Name), which was released earlier this year. Through the video, the 22-year-old musician celebrated his homosexuality while also mocking his critics and homophobic audience. The social media trolls did not spare Lil Nas X when the song video was released.


After the release of the music video, which has earned over 312 million views on YouTube since its release on March 26.

The music video, however, set a new record last week when it became the artist's first music video to garner one million dislikes. A fan account tweeted a screenshot of Montero's (Call Me By Your Name) music video on Twitter.

According to the video sharing platform, the video has received over one million dislikes. The user, who goes by the handle @lilnasxmajor wrote, “It becomes his first video on Youtube to reach this milestone. Congrats Lil Nas X.”

The Grammy-winning artist, who is known for his witty take on his critics, greeted the new milestone by retweeting the fan account's message and writing, “thank you to everyone who made this possible. I am nothing without you guys' lack of support.”

Despite the ongoing backlash that the singer has received for being an openly gay artist, Lil Nas X continues to rule the music charts. “Lil Nas X is the only artist with two tracks simultaneously in the Spotify Global Top 10 with Industry Baby at number five and Montero (Call Me By Your Name) at number six,” the fan account tweeted earlier.

Last month, the singer launched a new music video for his latest single Industry Baby, which focuses on his career as an artist, his success, and his sexuality once again. For his latest track, the singer teamed up with Jack Harlow. The music video also serves as a fundraiser, since Lil Nas X collaborated with The Bail Project, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to abolishing monetary bail.
