Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra booked in cheating and forgery case

The complainant was allegedly threatened by the couple when he demanded that his Rs 1.5 crore be returned, a police official said.

According to Times Now, a cheating and forgery complaint worth Rs 1.51 crore has been filed against Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra by a businessman. The complaint relates to a fitness venture launched by Shilpa and Raj, where the couple raised money for the venture from investors from across the country. 

The FIR has been lodged by Mumbai based businessman Nitin Barai, alleging that in July 2014, Kaashif Khan, the director of SFL Fitness company, along with Shetty, Kundra and others asked him to invest Rs 1.51 crore into the company through which he could earn a profit.

The complainant was allegedly threatened by the couple when he demanded that his Rs 1.5 crore be returned, a police official said. 
 
Based on the complaint, the Bandra police have registered an FIR against the three for cheating, criminal intimidation, threatening and criminal conspiracy. Cases lodged under the various provisions of the IPC sections, includes 420 (cheating), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention), he said, adding that an investigation into the case was underway.

An officer from the Bandra police station stated, “We have registered a case on the complaint of Barai and have also recorded his full statement. We are now investigating the case and verifying all the documents and bank statements.”

Last week Raj Kundra was spotted with his wife Shilpa Shetty in public for the first time after he was released on bail. The couple performed puja at a famous temple in Himachal Pradesh. In the city, Shilpa was snapped solo at the airport.

Raj Kundra, a 45-year-old businessman was arrested by Mumbai police in July for allegedly owning and operating a company that deals in the production and distribution of pornographic content through an app. He was set free on bail in September and Shilpa Shetty made a statement requesting for the family's privacy, “As a family, we are taking recourse to all our available legal remedies. But, till then I humbly request you - especially as a MOTHER - to respect our privacy for my children’s sake and request you to refrain from commenting on half-baked information without verifying the veracity of the same. I am a proud law-abiding Indian citizen and a hardworking professional for the last 29 years. People have put their faith in ME & I’ve never let anyone down.”

All social accounts of Raj Kundra were deleted soon after his release.
