Amid the Congress infighting and Captain Amarinder Singh announcing his new party, Punjab unit head Navjot Singh Sidhu once again targeted the former Chief Minister over his alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party.

After Captain Amarinder’s press conference today, Navjot Sidhu called Singh a “BJP loyalist’.

"We the 78 MLAs of Congress, could never imagine, what we received an arm-twisted, ED controlled BJP loyal Chief Minister of Punjab @capt_amarinder who sold the interests of Punjab to save his skin! You were the negative force stalling Justice & development of Punjab,” Sidhu tweeted.

Amarinder Singh today told the media here that he would be meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday regarding issues concerning the state. This would be his third meeting with him in recent days.

Following the tweet, the ex-CM has retaliated by calling Sidhu brainless.

"He knows nothing, talks too much, doesn't have brains. I never spoke to Amit Shah or Dhindsa over this, but I'll. I want to be strong to fight Cong, SAD, AAP. I'll talk to them, we'll put up a united front to defeat these," said Captain Amarinder.

“This man knows nothing. He just keeps shooting nonsense from his mouth. I'd been meeting all central ministers to discuss state issues. States can't function unless they work with Centre. But I don't expect Sidhu to know anything about good governance,” Captain Amarinder was quoted saying by his media advisor Raveen Thukral.

Following the Captain’s ‘brainless’ remarks, Sidhu tweeted, “There is no suffering that pity will not insult ! Were you unceremoniously dumped for good governance ? & 18 Point Agenda shoved down the throat of poorest performing CM of Punjab … You will be remembered as Jaichand of Punjab’s Political history, you are truly a spent cartridge.”

In another tweet, Sidhu said, "You wanted to close doors on me, as I was raising voice of the People, speaking truth to power!"

"Last time you formed your own party, you lost your ballot, garnering only 856 votes … People of Punjab are again waiting to punish you for compromising on the interests of Punjab," Sidhu mocked Capt Amarinder.

Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh today, Former CM Captain Amarinder Singh confirmed that he is forming a new party in Punjab and said that “the name of the party will be announced once the Election Commission clears it, along with the symbol. My lawyers are working on it”.

When asked about Navjot Sidhu, Amarinder said as far as Sidhu is concerned, wherever he fights from, his party will fight him. “When the time comes we will fight all 117 seats, whether adjustment seats or we contest on our own”, he added.

He also confirmed that his party will have a seat-sharing arrangement with BJP.
