A Sikh man of Indian origin, age 31, was shot and killed in New York. Satnam Singh, who was found hurt in South Ozone Park, Queens, at around 3.46 on Saturday, has been identified as the deceased. He was shot in the throat and the torso. The New York Police Department sent this information to a private newspaper.

The incident took place in South Ozone Park, a neighborhood near to Richmond Hill where two Sikh men had been assaulted in April in what the police labelled as hate crimes.

Both areas have large numbers of people of Indian origin.

When the incident took place, Satnam Singh was sitting in a black jeep Wrangler Sahara when suddenly some gunmen came and started firing. Satnam Singh was rushed to a Jamaican hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Eyewitnesses on the spot said that Satnam Singh was going in the jeep when suddenly sedan approached him and took a U-turn from the square and approached him. Some of the gunmen got out and started firing and fled on the spot.

The matter is now being investigated that whether Satnam Singh or the owner of the vehicle was at the target of the killers; the killers may have been unaware of who was inside the car. No arrests have been made in the case so far.
