The actor spoke candidly about how uncertain he feels, given the current market trend where action films dominate ticket sales. Khan has had a longstanding struggle with timing, as he expressed his concern about the upcoming film’s timing. He marked the film as ‘completely ill-timed’, noting that his film, a sports comedy, is entering cinemas when the audience seems solely interested in action-heavy content. “My film is a comedy, but right now only the action is working,” he quoted, also recalling the time when ‘ill-timing’ became an issue before, admitting that this has been a longstanding problem in his career. He recalled that Ghajini was also released when action films were not performing well.
Aamir Khan’s update about the film’s OTT release
Ahead of the theatrical release of Sitaare Zameen Par, the actor-producer has cleared speculations that the film might be releasing on OTT platforms or at least on YouTube as a pay-per-view model.
Dismissing these rumors, he confirmed that it is a theatrical-only release and the film will not be available on OTT anytime soon, hinting that viewers who miss the theatrical release might not get another chance to watch the film, making the big screen release a one-time opportunity for viewers. He previously made a statement, “I believe in my audience,” while announcing skipping the OTT release, and is still standing on his grounds.
