Small, marginal farmers who cultivate, occupy government land will get proprietary rights in Punjab

The Punjab government decision regarding landless, marginal, and small farmers, cultivating and occupying government land in the state for a period of over 10 years or more as on January 1, 2020, will be eligible for allotment of government land.

In a big decision, which will have a far-reaching effect on small and marginal farmers, the state government has decided to provide ownership rights to those farmers, who cultivate and occupy government land in the state for over 10-years or more till January 2020.

The Punjab government decision regarding landless, marginal, and small farmers, cultivating and occupying government land in the state for a period of over 10 years or more as on January 1, 2020, will be eligible for allotment of government land.

For the allotment of land, it will be necessary to apply to the concerned sub-divisional magistrate. The land will be allotted to the eligible applicant after the payment prescribed in the Act. This information was given by Ravneet Kaur, Additional Chief Secretary Revenue, Punjab, here on Wednesday.

“The Punjab (Welfare and Settlement of Landless, Marginal and Small Occupant Farmers) Allotment of State Government Land Act, 2021 has been implemented by the Punjab Government for the betterment of landless, medium, and small farmers.

Accordingly, such farmers can apply for the allotment of land. The requisite fee of Rs.100 will have to be paid along with the application along with copies of revenue records relating to possession and tenancy of the land. The application will be submitted to the SDM of the concerned area. Applicants can visit the official website https:// revenue.punjab.gov.in and download the Act and Rules from the website for more details.
