South Indian actress Meena’s husband Vidyasagar passes at 48 after lung ailment

Meena's husband, Vidyasagar passed away. Actor Khushbu Sundar, a friend of the family, later clarified the cause of death in a tweet.

Actor Meena’s husband Vidyasagar succumbed on Monday in a private hospital in Chennai due to a severe lung infection. 

According to Tamil Nadu's health minister Ma Subramanian, a 48-year-old actor Meena's husband Vidyasagar, who had been at a private hospital in Chennai for about 95 days on life support, including ECMO, passed away on Tuesday night while awaiting a heart and lung transplant. 
  
"He was on oxygen support for his failing lungs even before he had Covid-19 in December. According to doctors, multi-organ failure was the cause of death" he said. 

In 2009, Meena wedded Vidyasagar, a Bengaluru-based entrepreneur. The couple has a daughter,  Nainika.  

Who is Meena? 

Meena began her film career as a child actor and later rose to prominence as one of the female stars in demand for leading roles in the 1990s and the late 2000s. She has shared the screen with every south Indian film celebrity.

She recently got her fame through Malayalam movies like Drishyam 1 and 2. She last appeared in the Telugu movie Son of India. 
Daughter Nainika made her screen debut as a child actor, following in Meena's footsteps. In the popular film, Theri, Nainika played  Vijay's daughter.

Actors expressed their condolences 

Khushbu Sundar tweeted, "Waking up to terrible news. Heartbroken to learn actor Meena's husband, Sagar, is no more with us. He was battling a lung ailment for a long. My heart goes out to Meena n her young daughter. Life is cruel. A loss of words to express grief. Deepest condolences to the family" with the hashtag #RIP.

Lakshmi Manchu also took on Twitter saying, "Woke up to devastating news of #meena garu's husband, Vidyasagar garu passed away due to Covid complications. My deepest and heartfelt condolences to the entire family."
