Sports Minister Anurag Thakur to confer National Youth Awards 2017-18 & 2018-19 on Int’l Youth Day

On International Youth Day, a total of 14 awards of NYA 2017-2018 and 8 awards of NYA 2018-2019 would be given in New Delhi.

Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur will confer the National Youth Awards 2017-18 and 2018-19 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on 12th August 2021 i.e. on International Youth Day.

A total of 22 awards would be awarded in individual and organizations categories. Out of 22, 14 awards would be given for NYA 2017-2018, 10 under individual category and 4 under organization category and 8 awards would be given for NYA 2018-2019, 7 under individual category and 1 under organization category.

The award would comprise of a medal, a certificate and a cash reward of Rs 1,00,000 for the individual category, and for the organization category, the cash reward would be increased to Rs 3,00,000. 

Commemorating the International Youth Day 2021, ten young winning entrepreneur teams of the agri-enterprise challenge S.O.L.V.E.D 2021 (Social Objectives-Led Volunteer Enterprise Development) will be felicitated by Minister of State Youth Affairs & Sports Nisith Pramanik.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and Department of Youth Affairs confers the awards to individuals, aged between 15 years to 29 years, and organizations for their excellent work and contribution in different fields of development and social services such as health, promotion of human rights, active citizenship, community service etc.

The objective of the NYA:

The main objective behind the awards is to motivate the young children of the nation to contribute towards the development and social services. The award also calls attention to improve their personal potential. 

S.O.L.V.E.D Challenges have been developed by The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with United Nations Volunteers and the United Nations Development Program in December 2020. The challenge was launched for the youth to identify and nurture innovative, youth-led entrepreneurial solutions in the agri-food value chain. 

Over 850 youth participants participated from states including, Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, and Gujarat, and after so many rounds and contest 10 participants were selected as winners. These winners would be congratulated on Thursday.
