The remarks made against the G-23 leaders targeting the former Chief Minister of the state Charanjit Singh Channi are now taking a heavy toll on former Punjab Congress President Sunil Jakhar. The Congress disciplinary committee has issued a show-cause notice to former CM Channy on his complaint. Taking note of this remark, the Commission for Scheduled Castes has directed the Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar to conduct an inquiry.
As per information, the Commissioner of Police Jalandhar has been directed to investigate the matter. While fixing the time, the Commissioner of Police has been asked to register a case against Sunil Jakhar under the SC-ST Act (Atrocities) within 15 days after proper investigation. If the Jalandhar Police does not take action within 15 days, the Commissioner of Police or any of his representatives will have to appear before the SC Commission.

It may be recalled that former Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar in an interview targeted former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and said that there are some leaders who themselves say that their bag was small but the High Command gave more. Jakhar, while targeting the G-23 leaders, said that they should not be lifted from below and kept on their heads. The SC leaders were furious over this. However, Jakhar has already made it clear that he has no intention of saying so. He had already expressed regret.
