Television actress and host VJ Chitra, best known for starring in the Tamil show Pandian Stores, was reportedly found dead at a hotel room in Chennais Nazrathpet on Wednesday.
She was 29 and is suspected to have died by suicide. According to the police, she had checked into her room around 1 am on Wednesday after completing a shoot.
"The hotel manager called the police helpline number 100 about 3.30 a.m on Wednesday. We are currently investigating the cause of her death," a police official from Nazrathpet station told TNM.

Now, massive development is coming in and reports reveal that her husband Hemanth has been arrested for allegedly abetting her suicide. As per the New Indian Express, a police official said, "Based on the outcome of the investigation carried out for the past few days, we have slapped Section 306 of the IPC against Hemanth."
Investigators say Hemnath had been angry with Chitra for her intimate scenes in a television serial. "Hemnath did not like a scene she had enacted on TV. On the day she died, he had also pushed her," said Assistant Commissioner of Police Sudarshan.
