In a gruesome incident in Maharashtra, a teenager killed and chopped off his sister’s head for marrying out of choice. In the case of honour killing, the 17 year old boy displayedthe head to neighbours and allegedly took selfies with his sister’s severed head alongside his mother.

The incident took place in Aurangabad district on Sunday (December 5). The 19 year old who had eloped in June, was pregnant. According to sources, the minor also tried to attack his brother-in-lawwho managed to escape the scene. The police have been investigating the case.

Officials reported that after killing his pregnant sister, the teenager brought the severed head to the verandah and waved it in the air for all to see before surrendering.

The victim identified as Kirti Thore had been living with her husband since June. Last week, her mother contacted and asked for a visit on Sunday. While Kirti was preparing tea for her brotherand mother, the teenager attacked from behind and beheaded her.

Officials said her mother held her by the leg while her brother, who had brought a sickle, hacked off her head.

Kirti’s husband was resting in another room as he was not well. He came out after hearing the noise. The teenager then tried to attack him, but he managed to survive after elopingthe scene.

The perpetrators turned themselves in at the Virgoan police station and are currently being held.

The boy was inspired by a Marathi film, according to Superintendent of Police Nimit Goyal. Although the police stated that the marriage was not inter-caste, the teenager and his mother claimedthat the deceased brought 'disrepute' to the family.

The phone that was used to take the selfie has been seized by the authorities. As per the police officials, the photographs taken were deleted that forensics has been trying to recover,as these are major proof in the case.
