“Thank You, Amrita”, writes Taapsee Pannu as she wins Best Actor Filmfare award for her outstanding performance in Thappad

Filmfare Awards 2021: Taapsee Pannu won the Best Actor award in the leading role category for her role in Thappad.

Taapsee Pannu has been awarded the Best Actor (Female) for Thappad that was released in 2020. The film talked about the unsaid rules of marriage, which is often neglected in reality. The film bagged a couple of awards at the 66th Filmfare Award in several categories, including Best Film. Taapsee has been garnering praises for her performance and choice of role, since the release of the film. The actress has shared her trophy with a short clip of herself walking up to the grand stage of the Filmfare Awards and seen accepting the award from Filmmaker Anurag Basu. Taapsee can be seen hugging Thappad’s director Anubhav Sinha before she walks up to the stage to receive the award. Sharing the clip on Instagram, she wrote: "Kyunki ek tukda dhoop ka andar andar namm sa hai #Thappad keeps leaving memories to cherish, Anubhav Sinha #filmfareawards #FilmfareOnReels Filmfare."

Taapsee in the video looks charming in a shimmery silver side-slit dress. Besides the video, the actress also shared a solo picture of the black lady. Thanking her character Amrita, Pannu added, "Respect and Happiness, Thank you Amrita #Humbled #Thappad #FilmfareAwards.”

Thappad revolves around an urban couple Amrita and Vikram who are gearing up to move to London. She raises a voice against her husband Pavail Gulati, who slaps her in front of everyone during a party. The film addresses a conversation about self-respect and how normalizing violence should never be tolerated.
