Despite India's warning of consequences, Pakistan on Thursday night carried out another failed drone and missile attack on the border states of India. As per official information, Indian air defence systems thwarted missile and drone attacks that were fired at target military bases in Pathankot, Jammu, and Jaisalmer. Notably, multiple drones were seen being intercepted by the Indian defence system in the sky in multiple locations in Punjab, including Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, etc. Not only this, but many districts underwent a blackout during the tense time. In the meantime, an advisory to students of Thapar University in Patiala also went viral.
Thapar University, which is now called Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, issued an advisory for its students and faculty asking them to switch off their mobile phones during tense times. The University, in its advisory, outlined that use of mobile phones during such time can give your location to the enemy. Hence, students and faculty were advised to switch their mobile phones.
Thapar University's registrar, Gurbinder Singh, confirmed it to True Scoop and “Ever since this matter has been ongoing and mock drills were being discussed, we issued an advisory to students through official emails. Thapar, being a technology-focused institution, acted proactively based on findings from internal research." He added that the institute’s analysis highlighted that sharing one's location publicly during such times could potentially aid adversarial elements.
