The Witcher: Blood Origin, the latest upcoming spin-off project prequel series, set in the historic days of the continent is all set with its global release on OTT. With a superstar-loaded cast, this series set in the historical background is all set to mesmerize the viewers.
One could argue there's an element of time travel, but then again, Jaskier never aged across the Netflix series, which raises a few questions. The biggest surprise, however, is the arrival of Joey Batey's Jaskier, better known as Dandelion the bard, a key character in the mainline Henry Cavill-led The Witcher series, which takes place centuries later.
The series is set in the eleven Golden Era, 1200 years before Geralt of Rivia’s World, which was also shown in the trailer that opens with some exposition dump detailing a band of seven outcasts, who came together to topple an unstoppable empire. “I've taken control of the entire Continent,” Chief Sage Balor (Lenny Henry) says, giving rise to a dysfunctional kingdom, brimming with violence.
The series’ previous teaser simply focused on the leads Elven Warrior and a couple of others in the lead, the new trailer that was released earlier this month offers a first look at the remaining group of strangers, who joined for a nobly-mystical cause.
In addition to them, we've got Francesca Mills as warrior dwarf Meldof, Huw Novelli as the mohawk-donning Callan “Brother Death,” and a pair of celestial sage siblings Syndril and Zacaré, played by Zach Wyatt and Lizzie Annis, respectively. “I swore I'd kill you if we ever crossed paths again,” Éile warns Fjall, who both hail from warring clans, and struggle to trust each other.
The series that all features Henry Cavill is made in four parts and leads into the conjunction of sphere events, although it was initially supposed to come up in six parts. All four episodes of The Witcher: Blood Origin will be out on Christmas Day, December 25, on Netflix.
Moreover, it is pertinent to mention here that Netflix’s The Witcher is based on a well-known and acclaimed series of books written by Andrzej Sapkowski.
The trailer’s end introduced an extremely weary Jaskier (Joey Batey). “You're a bard. I am a storyteller. I need you to sing a story back to life,” she can be heard saying. Andrzej Sapkowski, that also inspired CD Projekt Red’s popular Witcher video games. While Sapkowski sometimes touches on events like the Conjunction of the Spheres. This gives a great set of ideas that Blood Origin’s story will be based much more reliant on the imagination of the writers.
